I'm Not Perfect

This post is going to be honest and blunt. If you don't want to hear the truth please feel free to skip this post. It won't hurt my feelings but I just have to get this off my chest.

I am not perfect...
  • I like my alone time, but I also don't like feeling excluded.
  • I don't cook a lot but I do try every once in awhile (thanks Hubby for being a great cook and keeping us well feed).
  • if you want to compete on who is trendier or has the latest fashion I will lose.
  • I work hard for my money but sometimes if just doesn't feel like enough.
  • people say "oh you have to do all your traveling before you have kids!" Trust me if I had the money to do it I would, but I don't. Or at least not for that.
  • I fight with my husband! I love him dearly and there are going to be days when he is not my favorite person.
  • I didn't finish college. There I said it! I wish I had but school didn't come easy for me. I take pride in myself working my way up and the skills I have accumulated are ones that will stick with me forever. Not finishing school does not make me stupid or of less value. Get over it! But yes my kids WILL be going!
  • I am ready for a baby, just because you aren't there yet, don't judge me.
  • and yes I am going to talk babies and pregnancy because its on the fore front of my mind.
  • I want, want, want but it doesn't mean I am going to get it.
  • I hate changes.
  • I have a type A personality and I like to be in control.
  • I like trashy reality tv.
  • Sometimes I really hate facebook and think about deleting it all the time.
  • I say what is on my mind and often times it gets me in trouble.

Although I am not perfect these are some of my greatest qualities or the things that make me happy:

  • I love my husband unconditionally and he tells me I am a great wife. I can't imagine my life without him. We are each others rock and there is nothing mushy about it!
  • If you're my friend no matter what I will always be there for you even if we disagree.
  • I am a protective older sister but its because I love her dearly.
  • My mom is my best friend and always will be.
  • I love to plan, yes I can plan parties, get-togethers, weddings you name it but I also like to plan my future even if it doesn't go according to plan.
  • I love to clean and organize.
  • I also love to decorate.
  • my two dogs are spoiled rotten just because.
  • I love wine nights and DIY projects around the house.

Regardless of my strengths and weaknesses I love my life! I love my husband and my family! I love the moments that we cherish forever, even the small ones. And I look forward to what the future holds and what God has in store for me.

Thanks for those that stuck around to read this! Hope you are having a better day than I am. Tomorrow is a new day though! xoxo

No time for resting!

Whew! What a summer so far!!! We have been moving non-stop the whole time and I definitely need a break but there is just no time for that! I have been working hard and playing harder lately. I have been such a bad picture taker and lately (I'm sorry Jenn & Tracey) but I have been relying on others to take the pictures for me. Shame on me! So here is just a tease of the things we have been doing!

Lauren & Chad's Engagement Party

We had such an amazing time celebrating Lauren & Chad's engagement! I'm not sure that it will ever be topped! We partied all night long, stayed up till 7am in the morning (haven't done that in forever; definitely paid for it the next day!) and danced and sang along to one of the most amazing bands ever, Mothers Anthem! If you haven't heard their stuff before, you have to! Chad's brother, Drew, is in the band and they offered to play at the engagement party. What an amazing gift! Seriously, they are so talented and their music is contagious. My favorite is "God Save the Queen" and "Holding You Hostage." They are based out of Austin, Texas but travel all over. In fact they are playing in Houston this Sunday night! We have been to many of their concerts and its always a blast!

This past weekend was a "Girls Only" weekend which was much needed! We headed down to Jenn's river house for some fun in the sun, lots of girl talk and just an overall great time! There is something about being close to a body of water that just takes all the stresses away! We road the boat, ate lots of yummy food and caught some rays and a little bit of rain. Thanks again Jenn for such an awesome weekend!
Jenn, myself, Megan and Lindsey kicking off the weekend!
Yep we are all bloggers! Go visit their blogs and become followers! Such fun girls!

Saturday when the other girls arrived!
Jenn was so sweet and go us all towels! Love her!
Can't wait to go back!

Lately I have been completely obsessed with DIY projects! Our front room has been empty for over a year and like any house each room has its purpose. It was original built to be the dinning room but those can be so formal and never get used. So we have opted to have another sitting room. We love to entertain so it would be a great place for the ladies to gather as the guys watch the fights or games. We are hoping to get new couches by the end of this year and move the existing ones into the front room.
Here is the front room now.

Since this picture was taken I have painted a dresser and side table that was at my parents house and now has a new home in this room. I really want to make this room comfortable and yet elegant. I have gotten shades for the chandelier and plan on adding some hanging crystals. Here are a few ideas I had in mind:

So what do you think? I have gotten alot of great ideas from Young House Love and like I said I am all about the DIY projects. I plan on making the curtains and pillows myself and have already printed up a million pictures for the picture wall. Many of trips to HomeGoods will be had and I would love all of your ideas and opinions as well! I don't want to spend alot of money since you know it doesn't grow on trees but I want a room that is fun and inviting. For you new homeowners: do you still have empty rooms or rooms that you are wanting to redo? Share your tales!
Ok I better get back to work before the boss catches me! At least tomorrow is Friday!!! I'm surviving another week!

Proposals, Dress Shopping & Sprinkles!

Wow I am on a roll! Two post now in one week! See I told yall I am getting back into this blogging thing. I really have missed it so much.

So a few weeks back our close friends Chad and Lauren got engaged! We are so thrilled for them and so glad that they found each other. Lauren is actually a long time friend of Chris' and through that Lauren and I became close as well. We were even neighbors for 2 years as we lived one apartment over from each other - great for those late night wine nights! Chad proposal was perfect and one that will never be forgotten. So here is a short version of the proposal. Lauren is an interior designer whom owns her own business. Often times she gets rolls of fabric sent to the house for her clients. Well on that special day she received a large fabric roll at the door. She brought it inside and placed it in the office not thinking anything of it. However in the back of her mind she was thinking that she hadn't ordered any to be delivered yet. Little did she know that Chad was hiding around the corner waiting for her to open the package. She turned around and there he was home from work and no car in sight. He planned on surprising her but that didn't quiet go as planned. He was hoping that she would have opened the box but she didn't. So he played it cool and they hung out for awhile before Chad finally convinces her to open the package. When she opens the package she sees the fabric and he tells her to roll it out to further inspect it. As she rolls it out she sees that on the fabric is embroidered with the word "Will You Marry Me?" She tells him that the package must have been delivered to the wrong person but then turns around to see him kneeling on one knee! He couldn't have done a better job! Not only did it fit her personality but he also got the fabric to match the bedroom and had them embroider it far enough in so that they could make it into a pillow. Great job Chad! So happy for the two of you! Ok maybe that wasn't the short version lol! And to make things even more exciting they asked both Chris and I to be in the wedding! Chris is an usher and I am a bridesmaid! So excited for the big day, April 30, 2011, and for all of the events in between!

Her way of asking me to be a bridesmaid. They were delivered to the house!

So with proposals comes wedding shopping! It was a last minute thing but there was a great event called Brides Against Breast Cancer that was held in Houston over the weekend. Lauren, her mom, Chad's mom and myself were thrilled to make it to the event. The dresses were marked at a discount price but all the proceeds went to the Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation! What a great way to make a difference! She not only found a dress but it also went to a great cause!

Project #1 for the summer
My parents gave us there old dinning room table and chairs. So Chris and I are in the process of sanding and staining them to match the darker furniture we have.So what do you think? It's still a work in progress and its definitely not easy! All the chairs have to be sanded by hand.
My arms hurt!
Summer Project #2. The outside patio furniture needed a little update so I spray painted the furniture black. I think it looks nice and clean now. Trying to save and by nice outdoor furniture when it goes on sale.
