Fall Lineup...not yet!

So times have been a little tough lately and my stress level to an ultimate high. I can't really say what it is at the moment but eventually it will all work itself out with God's guidance. He has a plan for me but I just haven't quiet figured out what it is yet.

When I get stressed I love to bury myself in a good book or a good tv show. Now a big topic with people these days is that there is nothing on tv right now. Yes, the fall lineup doesn't start for ANOTHER month, but to say that there is nothing on tv right now is false...very false! I am actually loving a number of shows right now that I just can't get enough of!

My ultimate favorite right now is Giuliana & Bill! They are a fun loving couple that have everyday arguments like the rest of us and are still trying to figure out life as newlyweds. He wants to live in the city and she wants to live in the suburbs. She loves to dress up and he loves to wear golf shirts. If you haven't caught an episode of this show yet then you must!

Another show that I am now obsessed with is The Rachel Zoe Project. I was flipping through channels the other night and came across this show. Not only did it provide laughter and drama but it also gave me a glimpse into what Rachel Zoe is really like. I have to admit, I never really cared for Rachel Zoe before and now I have a whole new prospective of her and I really like her.

Now this is one that both you and your man would love. TNT's Dark Blue started up mid summer and ever since then each episode tops the previous one. Once you think it can't get any better...it does! This show is about a group of undercover cops that put themselves in extreme positions to catch the bad guys. They are so secretive that even their own police force doesn't know they exist. Not only is the show amazing but the men are hot in that bad boy kinda way! Ladies trust me you will like this!

This week has been a really tough one and its time to get away for the weekend. So Chris and I are joining his parents for a weekend in Lake Conroe. It's exactly what we need! So I wish everyone a wonderful weekend and if you can catch one of these shows do it! You might just love it! xoxo

A few before's, afters and a work in progress!

It has been almost two months since we first moved into our first home and we have been quiet the busy bees. So much has changed from the moment we signed that stack of never ending papers. Our first task was the hardest and I can now say that I will not pick up a paint brush any time in the near future! With all the work we have done I am so proud of how much we have accomplished in just the past two months. I can't give it all away before the house warming party but here are a few before's and afters.

My new heaven!

Still so many accomplishments to be made in the house but I don't think that feeling will ever end. It's been so much fun setting up our nest to reflect our style and personality and so look forward to seeing what it all looks like a year from now!

Now here is my new inspiration:

{Picture provided by Decor 8 and the PaPaYa's new workspace} LOVE!!!
There are so many other ideas from that post that I must have!

I love the fabrics and how they all flow but really make a statement. I am beginning to envision my front sitting room in these patterns! Ok now I am getting ahead of myself but soon enough it will happen!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and may your week fly by so another weekend can approach!

Fit for a QUEEN

Go figure as soon as I make a post about duvets I was able to find one...FINALLY! We are still testing it out to make sure that it is exactly what we want for the room. Like I said before Christopher is a picky man. We, or I, decided to go with green. It's not exactly what I imagined but as a girl on a budget it will work until I can find the "perfect" one. Plus it was a sale that I could not refuse. I would show you a picture but Chris has already gotten in bed for the night so I will have to leave it for another night. But here is a peak at our new headboard. I am in LOVE! It makes me feel like a queen when I am in it. It's over 6ft tall and weighs a ton but its gorgeous and looks even better in person.

It's almost midnight and the house is clean with a few final touches to be made in the morning. Tomorrow night I am having a few girls over for a wine night. I can't wait to sit around, sip some wine and have great chats with some wonderful girls!

Update: After sleeping with the new duvet on we decided that it just wasn't the right one. It was too heavy and I know that deep down Chris didn't love it. So after 5 different duvets and many returns to Bed, Bath & Beyond, the hubby said that I could go ahead and buy the one that I was really dreaming of. It matches the headboard and the dustruffle so for color we can change the sheets and add some colorful accent pillows.

Help me out ladies!

Ok ladies! I have searched high and low for a King size duvet cover with the measurements of 108x98. Chris is a picky man and we have finally come to a decision that we want something with color and a pretty design. It has to be able to go with browns. Please help me! I have searched Bed Bath & Beyond, Crate & Barrel, West Elm, Pottery Barn, Z Gallerie, Overstock.com, JcPenny's, Macy's and Dillards. I think I might be going insane! Any other recommendations?

By the way we finally got our headboard and dust ruffle and they look AMAZING!!!! Pictures to come once we get the duvet cover!

Monday Blues

I have come to the conclusion that Monday's are just not my days and today is one of those days. You know that feeling when you wake up and nothing seems to go according to plan?! Yep thats where I am at. First my doctors appointment was cancelled, then I was running late trying to get things ready for getting our new headboard today, the first email in my inbox was soooo not a good one and it seems like the day is totally dragging! I called my upholstry people this morning and low and behold of course its not ready. Anything else to add to the list?

Ok enough of my pity party!

I did however get alot done this weekend. And the mosaic mirror is FINALLY DONE and hanging up on the wall. Photos to come soon. On Saturday I went out and purchased the latest House Beautiful Magazine and a few other design mags. I am in LOVE! So many wonderful ideas and such amazing colors to consider. The color issue couldn't have come at a better time! I am craving all sorts of colors that would go perfectly in my house, especially digging a royal blue. Go out and get your issue now!

Hopefully the next hour will fly by so I can go home and have a glass of wine and RELAX! Hope everyone had a great weekend! xoxo

add a little SPICE to your life

My husband loves all things spicy. If it doesn't have jalapeƱos or saracha sauce on it you better believe he is going to add it and not just a little but ALOT and to everything! The other day I came across this recipe on Style & Grace and immediately thought of him! He loves a good margarita but I think that this might top them all! Can't wait to greet him after a long day at the office with one of these. What a great way to kick off the weekend!

Based on Tim Love's Jalapeno Cucumber Margarita
Lonesome Dove, Fort Worth, Texas
(Serves 4)

8 1/8-inch slices of jalapeno

8 1/8-inch slices of cucumber

2 packets of Splenda (he uses real sugar)

8 oz. Cointreau

10 oz. Patron Silver tequila

Juice from 2 limes

4 lime wedges

Large ice cubes

Kosher salt

Using a mortar and pestle, grind 4 slices jalepeno, 4 slices cucumber into 1/4 cup sugar. Pour mixture into a shaker. Add tequila, Cointreau and lime juice. Fill shaker with ice and shake heavily. Rub rim of 4 highball glasses with lime wedges and coat with salt. Fill with ice. Give the shaker one more shake and strain contents into each glass. Garnish with jalapeno and cucumber slices.

Doesn't that sound delicious!?

Friday can't seem to get here fast enough. Chris has the day off tomorrow and will hopefully get alot done so we can have a nice relaxing weekend. We are hoping that our headboard will be ready this weekend but aren't going to get our hopes up and there are still a few small things that I need to do around the house. At some point I envision myself laying out, soaking up some sun, with a Jalapeno Cucumber Margarita in one hand and a book in the other! Sounds like heaven to me!

Pillow Talk

Sadly the weekend is over :( and now a long and busy week begins. The weekend was a very productive one and I am very please with all that we accomplished in two days. Friday night we moved all the master suite furniture into the guest bedroom to prepare for the delivery of our king size bed on Saturday. The room looks great but I still have a few nicknack's that I need to get in order to make it feel chic and charming. Saturday morning we were up bright and early and ventured our separate ways. Chris went to help my dad for the day with a few things that needed extra manpower and I went and bought our fabric for the headboard and dust ruffle and delivered it to the upholstery stores for the beginning of our projects. I was thrilled when they said that it would only take a week but will be still be happy if it takes a little bit longer than they said (something that is likely to happen). Saturday afternoon our mattress arrived! I am totally in love with it and can't wait to see the complete project all together. That night we head to watch UFC with the Watts family and friends. I must admit I slept through half of it but so did the hostess, lol. Sunday was spent cleaning house and mowing the yard.

Ok I have to tell a scary/funny story. While Chris was mowing the backyard, our grass was really high since we just got our lawn mower fixed, he began to feel something on his leg while he was next to the fence. When he looked down he saw a snake coiled around his leg. Chris immediately shook off the snake and ran inside. The look on his face when he walked in was priceless. Thankfully he did not get bit and no harm was done other than being shocked and scared half to death. I am not a mean person but I had to laugh. The reason for this is because when we first moved in I had my own encounter with a snake and he did not take me seriously and just laughed at my reaction. Now that he has experienced his own encounter he is sure to pay more attention and make sure that the grass is always short. I got a thrill out of watching him continue to mow as he kept looking around to see if there were anymore snakes. In all seriousness though it is something that we must do especially where we are located. They are clearing a lot of land right now and the animals have to go somewhere. It's a very scary thought.

After Chris mowed the yard we set out on an adventure to find bedroom furniture to go with our bed such as nightstands and dressers. We are trying to wait for the Labor Day sales but wanted to get an idea of how much we could expect. We hit up Rooms to Go and then Star Furniture. I have to say I was not impressed with Star Furniture. Any suggestions on where else we could go?

As I sat in our bedroom last night trying to envision what the room would look like after all was completed, I began to notice how neutral our house is (browns and beige). I need something that pops and this is where I could use your help. To the left of this post is a poll that you can take. I have picked a few colors that might be considered and would like your intake. If you pick "other" please comment and let me know what you think would really add some "pop." All suggestions are welcome! Here are a few ideas but I really need help. Even something bright would be fun!

I hope that everyone had a great weekend and I look forward to seeing what color you would pick!

On a Mission

It's finally Friday and this weekend consists of yet another busy one. But before I get into that lets have a recap of the week! Tuesday night Jonathan & Megan made their way out to Katy to join us for Taco Night at our house. I actually made my way around the kitchen and after some ghetto-rigged rice cooking and an oven timer that I am still trying to figure out, we were able to enjoy some yummy taco/taco salads. I promise I am going to get better at this cooking stuff. I can make delicious desserts though, lol! Thanks M&J for coming out!

The following afternoon I was on a mission: finding the perfect fabric for our headboard and bedding accents to go into our master suite. As I have mentioned before we are redoing our master. I have never had a room that is fully complete and all flows together and now that we have a house of our own I think that it is about time! Lauren, with Triple L Designs, and I made our way to Interior Fabrics for their huge sale and so the search began. After many selections, we cut our swatches and made our way out to join the boys for happy hour and to discuss choices. I was so thrilled when Chris picked the same one that I was envisioning. Now off to the upholsters it goes and the headboard and dust ruffle will be done before we know it! So I can check that off the list.

These are a few of the selections but you will have to wait to see which one I picked.

Tomorrow our king size bed will be delivered and we cannot wait! To have a good nights sleep is something that we haven't been able to do for a very long time (without the aid of a tiny blue pill) and we are thrilled that the night is almost here! So tonight Chris and I are going to tackle the guest bedroom. We are taking our old furniture and moving it into the guest bedroom and hanging art work and adding our special touches to the room. It's really all starting to come together!

Saturday will be a day of running around, mowing the yard (Chris, not me) and finishing up some little things that need to be done, then we are heading in town to spend an evening at the Watts household! Gotta love UFC!

Hopefully starting next week I am going to add a new section to this blog. It may take some time but hopefully it will be a success!

Have a safe and fun weekend! xoxo

Guess what I found?!

First off, thank you for all of those who gave their advice on cameras! I will be needing it in the near future, but not as soon as I would have liked. Guess what I found this weekend?! Yep, go figure as soon as I make a post that darn camera charger shows up. It's probably for the best, for now, but I am pushing for a new one come Christmas time!

So now that I finally have my camera back up and running, this week and this weekend will be a busy one and I promise to take pictures. Tomorrow night the Lenz kids will all be gathered for taco night at our house. They have been so sweet and made so many meals for us in the past and now it is time to start returning the favor! Wednesday, I will be meeting my sweet friend Lauren to finally start our master suite makeover. Christopher and I have decided on an upholstered headboard and have come up with the design. Now its time to pick the fabric! This might be the hardest part but it will definitely be exciting. The rest of the week will be projects on my long list of to-dos but will be sure to fill you in with before and after shots. Maybe I will finally get to the mosaic mirror that I have been postponing for the last 6 months complete!

Hope everyone has a happy Monday! xoxo
