Halloween & Wishful Wednesday...Costume

'I wish' .... I was six years old and going trick or treating, and my costume would be this cute little bumble bee!

I can see myself buzzing around all over the place! Isn't it adorable?! I absolutely love Halloween. From the day I was born it was always a big thing in our house. Each year I would pretend and be whatever my heart desired from a baby doll, to a pumpkin, Cleopatra, princess, M&M and the list goes on and on.

As an adult not much has changed. Both Christopher and I absolutely love Halloween. In fact, one of our first real outings with our friends was a Halloween party which also included our first picture. Sorry its at home in an album. Each year its been a big deal for us. For the last three years we have rented a place downtown along with one of our closest friends and thrown an amazing Halloween bash. It had become quite the tradition! But this year will be the first year we won't be hosting it :(. It's also our first Halloween in our new house so I am really looking forward to all the trick or treaters. Don't worry though we are still dressing up for a big party that night but its hosted by one of our best friends. The costumes are in the works as we speak but you will have to wait till Monday to see it! Below are some pictures from the previous years. Enjoy!

Non-Halloween related:
Brixie is getting bigger by the day. I am trying to take as many pics as I can now before she gets any bigger. She loves chasing Adrienne all over the house, playing with her ropes, crouching down like a cub to attack her prey (Adrienne), eat until her tummy is full, roll around in the grass and explore until her hearts content. And she sleeps like a baby!

Enjoying the nice weather outside. Yes she is sleeping.

Her big bowls! She will grow into them but for now they are so big that she puts her paws in her food bowl when she eats.

I keep trying to get pics of Adrienne as well but she isn't staying still quite long enough to snap the pic. This is usually when Brixie is about to pounce on her. She has been looking over her shoulder all week waiting for Brixie to come whip the corner. But last night was a huge success, they actually played with one another. It's the beginning of a beautiful friendship!

I hope that everyone is having a great week so far. Hard to believe it's only Wednesday!

I Can Explain!

Yes, I have been MIA lately. But I have a really, really good excuse! Meet Brixie!!!

Isn't she just precious! So let me tell you the story. A few posts back we were really heartbroken that we couldn't take Bentley (another stray) in. The medical attention was just more than we could handle so we did one of the hardest things we have ever had to do and gave him to a foster home that would take care of him and all his needs. We were so saddened by this but just knew that the timing wasn't right. There has been alot of healing in the process.

Well Monday afternoon I got a text message from my sister saying that she had 2 puppies that needed a home. What?! Where did these puppies come from and why does my sister have them. So the investigation began and I called my sister and she proceeds to tell me all about it. Her roommate found the 2 pups on the side of the road and the mother was a couple miles up the way. So Dana grabbed the pups and tried to catch up. Sadly, the mom just disappeared. Dana took the pups to their house to find them a home. After my mom's suggestion to Michele, I got the text and after work I made my way to their house. At this point I am scared, nervous and excited all in one. Chris has really been talking about getting a big dog for awhile and this seemed like the perfect possibility. I mean what are the chances of coming by an adorable female lab PUPPY that needs a home and not have to spend a dime for adoption. Great! However, all I can think of is Bentley and all that happened and the disappointment of not being able to keep him. I don't think I would have been able to handle it. So I tried not to get my hopes up. This is all I could think of on the way over. I get there, walk through the door and BAM...instant love! I look down at these 2 adorable little girls and this huge smile crosses my face. In the back of my head I am screaming "don't get too attached, don't get too attached." After playing with them both I made the decision and went for the chubby reserved one. You should have seen Chris' face when I pulled up the driveway. He was waiting for us. We gave her a nice long flea bath and set her all up. The next morning I took her to the vet and all was well and she is one healthy little girl! So because of that I am now able to tell yall about her. I didn't want to jinx myself or get my hopes up.

Brixie loves to play, whine and cuddle! The first 2 nights were rough. She would cry non-stop unless you held her. Finally last night I took one of my shirt and wrapped the heart beat pillow I got her and put it in her crate. That did it! She slept so sweetly last night, as did Chris and I, lol! It's been quiet the adventure. I forgot what it was like to have a puppy!

So now you know why I have been MIA. And now that things have settled down a bit I can get back to my blogging! I hope everyone is having an awesome week!

Wishful Wednesday...Talent

I wish...I had one particular talent, and it would be to be an amazing cook. Don't get me wrong, I can cook, but with a hubby that knows his way around the kitchen I don't really get the opportunity to. Whenever I try he just swoops in there and takes over. He is able to just whip together an amazing meal with just about anything that is laying around. He can tell what's missing and what needs to be added to give it just the right flavor. Well one day I want to be able to do the same. To cook a meal that melts in your mouth and tastes of pure heaven.

Have any of you ever seen Simply Irresistible with Sarah Michelle Gellar? She becomes this amazing chef that when people eat her food magical things happen. That, that right there is what I want. I want to make a dessert that people fall in love over.

All I need is a little motivation and this was it! One, the adorable Flirty Aprons finally came in the mail yesterday! They are even cuter in person. If you haven't signed up for the GIVEAWAY do it now! Two, tonight I am going to go through all my fabulous cookbooks and magazines and pick out some yummy meals so I can make my grocery list for the rest of the week and weekend. If you are brave and close by let me know and I can let you be a taste tester! If you have an amazing recipe that you would like to share please do so!

So what would your wishful talent be? Check out Wishful Wednesday's with Kelsey @ The Seattle Smith's!

I hope everyone is having an amazing Wednesday! The weekend is almost here!

Pumpkin Spice

Ladies, yall are absolutely amazing! Your response to the giveaway has been way more than I was ever expecting and I am so thrilled. Thank you soooo much for becoming followers. I love meeting new friends in the blogging world and its been wonderful getting to know so many of you! If you haven't entered yet don't worry you still have plenty of time and remember if you spread the word and post about it you get entered an additional two times!

Fall is officially here and Texas is feeling it...FINALLY! This weekend has been cold, wet and rainy and I must admit...I am loving it! The Friday afternoon storms brought in the chilly weather and hopefully it is here to stay. It has given me the chance to wear my gorgeous new scarf from the sweet Roxanne and the opportunity to light my latest purchase...the Pumpkin Spice scent by Tyler Candles. It screams fall!

Chris and I had a wonderful weekend. It started off at RA with sushi and drinks to celebrate our newest friend Suzanne's 30th birthday! Chris and I moved into our house not too long ago and we have just now begun to really meet our neighbors. We are blessed with neighbors on both sides of us that we absolutely adore. From the moment we met Ryan and Suzanne, to the right of us, it was an instant friendship and we have hung out numerous times since and have already made plans in the near future. We had an absolute blast with them Friday night and it was a great way to start of the weekend. Saturday Chris and I were moving a little slow, you can blame it on the alcohol. But that night we were ready to go for a game night at the Watts Household. They just moved into their house and it looks amazing. I am trying to get her back into blogging again!!! I just know that she will find it so rewarding.

Today has been a lazy one, sorta. We ran a bunch of errands earlier this afternoon but after Chris treated me to my favorite place for fried pickles it was time to come home and relax. So I am sitting here with my sweet yorkie snoozing in my lap while I type away and smell that pumpkin spice scent coming from the kitchen. Tonight I am making breakfast for dinner, one of Chris and I's favorite thanks to my Mimi whom used to make it all the time for us. I am going to finally test out our waffle maker. Yep, we have been married for a year and a half and I still haven't made those waffles yet. I will let you know how they turn out.

Michele Update: she looks sooo much better than she did last week. She is a fast healer and I know that in no time she will be back to normal. She is going to try and go to work tomorrow. I am not sure how long she will last and I must admit I am a little nervous. So wish her luck!

I hope you all had an amazing weekend and stayed warm and cozy.

Scarf Swap Reveal

I was so thrilled to participate in a Scarf Swap hosted by my sweet friend Meredith. I absolutely love scarves and I especially LOVE the one that my partner Roxanne got me! It is a beautiful shade of purple with strands of gold mixed in! I can think of a million outfits that this piece will go perfectly with! Even my hubby commented on how nice it was. Thank you so much Roxanne!!!!
I love the color & the texture!

My camera sucks (wishing for a new one for xmas)
but can you see the way the gold sparkles!

This is the one that I sent Roxanne and it seems like we have alot of the same taste. Hers too has threads of gold and also a hint of silver. When I saw it and saw all the shades of blue I thought it would be perfect. I hope that she likes it!

Michele Update:
Michele is doing much better than she was this weekend. Still not great though. She went to the doctors yesterday and they gave her some stronger prescriptions for the pain and they had to work out some of the asphalt that is starting to come up through her skin. Its a very painful procedure. She is pretty stiff today and a little groggy from the meds. All in all she is just taking it one day at a time.

Hope everyone is having a great week so far!

PS. At the end of October I will be doing a fabulous giveaway! Details later.

BEYOND Blessed and Thankful!

I cannot express to you enough how thankful and blessed we truly are. I have an amazing husband, a wonderful family and God watches over us everyday. I can't wait to blog about the amazing scarf I received from the lovely Roxanne over at Hangin with the Bradfords for our scarf swap. But you will just have to wait to see it tomorrow. Today I want to share with you one of the many reasons God is AMAZING!

My beautiful and loving sister Michele is alive today. Friday night she was involved in a horrific motorcycle accident. She was attending the Fort Bend County Fair and left on a motorcycle with a friend. She wasn't wearing a helmet and after accelerating when she wasn't expecting it she feel off the motorcycle and hit the ground hard. Without giving any other terrifying details I will say that she is alive today and boy was God watching out for her. She spent the rest of the night in the ER. She has no broken bones but the majority of her body is covered in road rash and its not a pretty sight. She is missing alot of her skin but again she is ALIVE. She received a few stitches as well and is pretty banged up. She also hit her head really hard but didn't suffer a concussion. The recovery is going to take a very long time and just changing out her bandages takes us almost 3 hours. It could have been so much worse and to think of what the other outcomes would have been absolutely kills me and brings us all to tears. But she is still here with us and we have so much to be thankful for. She is home with my parents now and is in great spirits. Michele will be in alot of pain and the healing they say can take up to a year. She is a strong woman though and I know she will come out of this stronger than ever but she will always remember that Friday night, as will the rest of us, for the rest of our lives. One thing I will say is that night she was wearing a shirt that I gave her a while back with a cross made of rhinestones. The people working on her that night had to cut her clothes off but I believe that her wearing that shirt really protected her and I know that God was there with her. I promise you Michele, you will be getting a new shirt from me to replace the last but I am so happy that you are still here today.

So I finish this post with many kleenex in hand and tears flowing but I feel that we are beyond blessed and truly thankful for God's miracle. I hope that you all had a blessed weekend as well! xoxo
