October Fun

I know, I know, I have been a bad blogger lately. And I was on a role! Between finding a home for Bentley and getting our home ready for the open house it was a little crazy this past weekend and I don't think that I even touched the computer. Saturday was such a fun day. We wrapped up a few final projects and then waited for the arrival of our friends and family. We had an amazing time! We got to see people we hadn't seen in awhile, meet some of our new neighbors and just had an overall blast. Plus our Cougars won!!!! On Thursday I will be posting pictures of the house for those that weren't able to attend. We missed you but you are always welcome in the Lenz household!

With fall finally here there are a lot of things that Chris and I have planned for the months ahead. Yesterday we sat down and listed all the things out to make sure we didn't overbook our calendar. Just talking about the events got me all excited! I can even smell the pumpkin spice now! This Friday night we are headed to the Greek Festival. We go about every year and always have a good time. Sipping on wine and eating wonderful Greek food is a great way to spend a Friday night in my books. Then Saturday we have poker night at the Walters' house. I won't be playing, not good at the whole poker face lol, but I know how much Chris loves it so hopefully we will be walking away with some mad cash!

Some of the things we have planned for the month of October are the South Shore Wine & Cheese Festival with some of Chris' coworkers, a visit to Dewberry Farm to pick out our pumpkin in the pumpkin patch, do the corn maze and some other great activities (let me know if you would like to join us) as well as Halloween itself. This will be the first year of not hosting our annual Halloween Bash. Chris and I so look forward to passing out candy though to all the trick-or-treaters this year and seeing the little ones in their costumes. We have tons of small kids in the neighborhood so it should be a blast. Then later on in the night we hope to have a good time with some close friends as we gather at their house for a night of Halloween fun.

Ok ladies, I know that its a ways off till December but I want you to mark your calendars! Chris will be in Vegas December 16-19th so this is the perfect opportunity for a girls get together. On Saturday, December 19th during the day I will be hosting an ornament exchange party and would love for you to attend. Invite your girlfriends, your sisters and your mothers and lets have a good time. If you are interested please let me know!

Ok got to get back to work. Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! I will post again later!

Bentley Update

It has been a sad day in the Lenz household. Last night we went to the vet to get Bentley all checked out. After the tests were taken our doctor walked in and told us some sad news. Bentley has heart worms and hookworms. Hookworms is an easy process to take care of, unfortunately the heart worms are not. The process is intense and will take some recovery time and the price is not cheap. After going back and forth and many hours of crying and giving Bentley lots of hugs and kisses we came to the decision that Chris and I can not financially provide for the little guy. Its not just the money though, cause if it were then we would figure out some way. But during the recovery period he would have to stay as calm as possible. If you put Adrienne and Bentley together though they run around and play till they pass out, which is something that Bentley shouldn't do during that time. So after lots of research we have picked a rescue team that works specifically with yorkies and small dogs in the Houston area. The lady in charge was extremely nice and has already found someone to care for him and they will pay for all the medical needs that Bentley requires. So tonight they will be picking him and I have to say that this is going to be terribly difficult for us since we have already become so attached to the little guy. I am going to be an emotional wreck. Luckily though they are going to keep me updated and after he gets better we might be able to adopt him. So hopefully there will be a happy ending after all.

New addition to the Lenz Family...Meet Bentley!!!

Bentley (our new name for him) is a yorkie mix we believe. He was found yesterday drenched in a construction site north of I45. No collar was found and no one searching for him. When I heard of his findings from a sweet friend at work and talked it over with the hubby, we just had to take this little guy in. He is not that much bigger than Adrienne, our other precious yorkie, and he is so loving and charismatic. When I first got him yesterday afternoon the poor thing was tired, sad and scared all in one. Once I got him in the car he took a seat on the passengers side and slept the whole way home.

When we got home we were greeted by Adrienne who was hesitant at first at the sight of her mommy holding another puppy but soon was just more curious as to whom this other little guy was. First things first, the baby boy needed a well deserved bath. So off I went to draw some water and not thrilled with the water and being in a new place he got his bath and was then wrapped up in a warm towel where he crashed for a little bit longer. One thing we always do with Adrienne after her bath is blow dry her hair and she loves it. She just lays there and then rolls over and enjoys the heat. Well little Bentley loved it too! He sat there as I brushed and blow dried his hair and was so cooperative. When Chris got home Bentley greeted him at the door excited to see who this new man was. Its sad though cause it makes me think that there might be some owners out there missing their little baby. He has now become my shadow and loves to play with Adrienne.

His vet appointment is today at 6pm to make sure all is well and determine his age and the possibility of a chip claiming his owner. I don't think that he has been spayed yet so this is something else that must be done soon. I am not used to having a boy dog and they seem to really love marking their territory, something I am not all too pleased with but he will soon learn the wrongs and rights in our house. Other than that he is an amazing little guy. He loves to play, whines when he doesn't see me and has only barked once but not in a mean way. He eats his food and loves to curl up on the couch or sprawl out on the cool tile floor.

Adrienne is adjusting to this new boy in the house and is being a really good sport. We are making sure that she gets the same amount of attention as she did before but now has to learn that she needs to share it. Last night they both lounge on the couch not too far from each other. In due time I think that they will be the best of buds.

It's a waiting game!

What a weekend!!! Friday night started off great. Chris and I started and finished the laundry, cleaned the house and even worked on our chalkboard project. The framed chalkboard was a great success, thanks Mer! As for the rest of the weekend, it was pretty much wasted. Chris went and helped Jenn & Corey move on Saturday while I waited for the furniture to be delivered from 9am to 1pm, the time slot they gave me. The time came and went. Three phone calls later and they arrived at 5pm! Seriously, I had a whole afternoon planned of running errands and getting other stuff done around the house. Luckily after they FINALLY left, my sister and I were able to run to the stores before they all closed and get the items I had planned to during the day. But as far as doing the other stuff it didn't get done. That's ok, I thought, I will be able to check things off my list tomorrow. Plus it was worth the wait because the furniture looks great!!!

Sunday I had scheduled to have the carpets and couches cleaned. Again 9am was the time slot. At 8am I get a phone call from the guy telling me that it would be closer to 10am due to a late night project they had. Sure I thought, no problem. 10:30 rolls around and I get another phone call, "ma'am we can't seem to locate the truck keys and our other two trucks are down. At this point I am getting a little frustrated. I am starting to think that this "late night project" was one that involved alot of drinking and hungover state and the dumb*#s lost his keys or just wanted to sleep in or watch the games. "Ok well what time should I expect you then?" "Ma'am I am not sure but will call as soon as I locate the keys." At 1pm I have Chris call. Same darn story of still not being able to locate the keys. At this point dude you lost my business. I spent the rest of the afternoon getting quotes from other people and too my dismay everyone seemed to be booked for the week or closed at 5pm. This wasn't working for me. Finally, I was able to book at guy for today at 4:30pm so to make up for the work time I was in the office at 6:50 this morning. After the schedule was booked, and the Texans game was over (AMAZING game by the way) Chris and I ran to Home Depot to get more items checked off our list. 6:30 comes and I get a phone call while we are still in Home Depot. "Mrs. Lenz I don't think we will be able to make it today, I just got done changing the transmission." "Oh really?! I responded. "Don't worry you already lost my business and I have decided to go with someone else more responsible and professional." Click. Completely confirmed my instincts of him lying. Just for your future info ladies never ever use Union Carpet Cleaning.

So the weekend came and went and not much was accomplished but the new furniture is perfect. I am so looking forward to this week and the upcoming party on Saturday! We have alot of friends and family coming and I am so excited to see everyone. I hope that everyone had a much better weekend than we did and I hope you have a wonderful Monday! xoxo

Let There Be Light!

What a week in the blogging world! So much has been going on lately and everyone seems to really be on top of their blogging, myself included! Let's keep this up ladies; it's great to see what everyone is up to and what fun things people are finding, buying, giving away and participating in. Love it!

So yesterday was quiet an adventure. I made not one, not two, but THREE trips to HomeGoods! Not only is this one of the greatest home stores ever but I felt the need to go multiple times in one day. Ok, I didn't really WANT TO go that many times. Yesterday I just had to get out of the office for a bit so during my lunch break I headed to the Marshall's HomeGoods in River Oaks. I found two great lamps for the living room and a huge framed bulletin board for the office. Great finds, I thought they would be perfect.

The Lamp "Round 1"

Skip to after work. Chris and I went to Home Depot, spent a fortune (not hard to do there) and then proceeded to my car for his approval on my purchases. Loves the lamps, not the bulletin board. Ok its 7:30 at this point. So I go back to HomeGoods around the corner in Katy and return the bulletin board :(. I also took a look at the lamp section one more time to make sure I didn't miss anything (they were putting new lamps out at all the stores yesterday). There just so happened to be two lamps that caught my eye. I decided to just go with what I already had since Chris had already seen them and headed home. No good. Not only were they not tall enough for the room but it made the room look so dark, not the point of having a lamp. I started to make dinner and just let it settle in and think about it. Nope, if you now me then you know I don't just settle. Things have to be near perfect or it will just bug me. Yep, I must be insane, my husband just laughed at me when I told him that it just won't do and I was going back. And you know that if you see something that you really like you have to go back for it or it might be gone the next day. So I finished making Chris' dinner, skipped mine for the time being and headed back to Homegoods at 9pm for the other two lamps. I am now happy with my new lamps and all is well in the Lenz household, lol. Pictures to come later.

I am so glad that it is finally Friday. Lots to do this weekend and I am actually looking forward to just a weekend of doing stuff around the house. I hope that everyone has a wonderful and blessed one! xoxo

Wishful Wednesday: TV Star

It's Wishful Wednesday! I just started following the The Seattle Smiths and this is something that she hosts every week. If you haven't seen her blog yet then you must stop by and visit. Today's Wish Wednesday theme is TV Star.

Hmmm...I might have to go with Reality TV Star on this one just because that is the majority of what I watch. So, I wish I could be...Tori Spelling!

I used to be sooo annoyed by Tori until I started watching her on Oxygen a few years ago. Since then I have a new outlook on her and absolutely adore her personality. Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood is a show that I just can't get enough of. She is a wonderful mom of two precious kids, has a hot husband that can't get enough of her, she actually is a great writer with a witty personality and she loves to host a good party! And to top it off her fashion is right up my alley. The only thing I could do without is the Candy drama. As we speak I am almost done reading sTori Telling and can't wait to read Mommywood!

That's my wishful thinking for the day. Which TV Star would you want to be?

better use a coaster

The weather is so nice out today so me and my coworker Elaine are going to be eating outdoors at Empire Cafe for lunch! They have some of the best food there and if you haven't been you have to go for breakfast sometime. It may look intimidating when you see the line going out the door but it is so worth the wait! I am so excited to get out of the office and enjoy the weather for once. I feel fall coming!

This week is going to be a busy one. Tonight Jenn and I are hitting the stores for a little shopping including adding to our scarves collection and getting ready for our Scarf Swap. It's been a long time since we last got to hang out so its a much needed get together. Then on Friday I am going to one of my best friends new house. As of yesterday Jenn & Corey are proud new homeowners!!! Congrats guys! And the best part is that it's a straight shot to their new house so we won't be that far away! I see lots of visits in the near future!

On other exciting news, we are getting some of our new living room furniture delivered on Saturday! During the Labor Day weekend Chris and I had bought some great furniture to add to the new house. We got an entertainment center, 2 end tables and a coffee table! Finally no more glass and fingerprints! Woohoo! But now I am going to be even more strict on the coaster rule (oh I better add more coasters to the list, lol). The house is finally coming together and really feeling like a home. The to-do list before the party is still growing but lots is being checked off the list. My goal for the weekend is getting 3/4 of it completed, leaving only grocery shopping and a few final touches to be left for the big day! I am hoping that it will all go smoothly and I so look forward to seeing so many of our friends and family.

So I have to make a confession. Since joining the blogging world and loving it more and more these days, I seldom get onto Facebook anymore, except to see a select few photos and to post my blogs as a status. I used to be on it 24/7 but that is no longer the case. I just do not have the connection I once did. Blogging has been so much fun and meeting new people on here has been so much more rewarding. Has anyone else been going through these same feelings?

Well I am counting down the minutes till lunch and need to finally get back to work. I hope everyone is having a great Hump Day!

September Fun: Weekend Recap

I am still recovering from a long weekend of non-stop drinking. The older I get the longer it takes for me to jump back into full swing. It was a great weekend though. After getting my hair done Friday night I joined Megan and the girls for a few drinks. It was so nice catching up with the girls, many that I hadn't seen since Megan's wedding, and we had a great time (wish I had taken pictures!
Megan & I at RA on Wednesday

Saturday night the family headed to Cavatore for some fine dinning! We had a few bottles of wine, some amazing escargot and a wonderful celebration for our Virgo's. It's been so long since we have all gotten together and it was truly an amazing night.

The most important women in my life!

I love my Mimi!!!

My little sis!

Sunday is normally my day of relaxation. While Chris was at the Texan's sucky game, the rest of the family headed out to the Sugar Land bars to celebrate Michele's 21st bday! It's hard to believe that my little sister is growing up.

Her first "LEGAL" drink
I couldn't hang as long as I would have liked to but I can only do so much drinking in one weekend, lol!

So the weekend is over and so is Monday, thank goodness. I have lots ahead of me for the next two weeks and I am really looking forward to wrapping things up for the Open House. I will be glad when the day finally arrives so that we can enjoy all of our hard labor. Hope everyone had a wonderful Monday and didn't have to work too hard. xoxo

P.S. Check out my sweet friend Meredith's blog for a Scarf Swap. Should be tons of fun and a great way to meet new friends! Can't wait to participate!

Shopping in YOUR Closet: Scarves!

This is one of the coolest features that my sweet friend Meredith hosts every week and this week has to be one of my favorites. I absolutely love scarves! I have my winter ones, my summer ones and the ones that could go either way! Everytime I come home with a new one my dear hubby questions me "Don't you think you have enough." My answer to that "No!" So here are my top three scarves in my growing collection:

I love this houndstooth scarf I got from Target. Not only was it inexpensive but I have been able to wear it with just about anything and it adds such a touch of sophistication. I always feel so classy in it!

This green floral print from Old Navy has been worn a zillion times. It's so light weight and the pattern is so fun and girly that I just had to have it. It also was my touch of green for Saint Patty's day!

My newest addition is another great buy from Old Navy. It's this season's collection and I fell in love with it the moment I laid eyes on it. With splashes of green, navy, red, purple and black I can pair it with so many of my outfits.

So those are my top 3...for now. My collection is still growing! I hope that everyone had a wonderful weekend. I know that I certainly did and will have a recap of the weekend for you tomorrow. Sweet dreams!

To My Virgo's

What a week! Although it was a short one, it was one that seemed to drag on forever! September has to been one of the busiest months for me out of the year, other than the Christmas season. There are not one but 3 major birthdays in this month all of whom I am related to. Not only this but everyone of them falls within the same week! That's right people, 3 gifts, 3 different celebrations, one week and all family. Wednesday was my sweet Mimi's birthday, yesterday was Megan's (my bff and sister-in-law) and on Sunday is my loving sister's long anticipated 21st birthday!!!! Yep, my baby sister is turning 21! Michele has had this countdown going on for as long as I can remember. Finally after Sunday we will be able to go out and have a few drinks together legally! All I have to say is that it is about time!

So this whole weekend is dedicated to my September Birthday Girls!!! Starting off the weekend, tonight after my hair appointment, I am going to hit the town with Megan and some of her close friends. It should be a blast! The last time we all got together was for her bachelorette party so I know that tonight we will be amazing and full of fun!

Saturday is yet another eventful day. Starting in the afternoon my sister is coming over to visit before we head to a birthday dinner at one of our favorite restaurants in celebration for Mimi and Michele's birthday. The whole family will be there, so good times will be had! I am sure that we will be going through a few bottles of wine that night, lol!

Then Sunday, Michele's actual birthday, Chris is heading to the Texans football game with his dad and a few of the guys, while the rest of us hit up Sugar Land for an afternoon of bar hopping! Drinking on a Sunday is going to be a challenge especially with a work day following. But for my baby sister it will be worth it!

So happy birthday to all my Virgo's!!! I love yall!

I promise to take lots of pictures this weekend for a Monday recap!!!

Hope you all have an amazing weekend!

Bye Bye Blonde

With fall quickly approaching, its time for a makeover. You have seen my fall must haves for clothing but now its time to change up the appearance, starting with my hair. Since I have moved out in Katy I have been dreading finding a new hairstylist. Ladies, I know that you can feel my pain. Finding someone who is great at color, cut and doesn't cost a fortune seems almost impossible. And having the guts to try a couple of different places before you find the perfect one is a scary thought. Well, I finally got the guts and made an appointment at a hair salon not too far from the house. I am hoping that its all that I am looking for and won't break the bank.

So now that I have made the appointment, its time to decide what I am going to do with my hair. Right now my blonde has got to go. I loved it while it lasted, but now its starting to wash me out. So to begin my fall transformation I have decided to go back to my brunette ways. Here are some of the colors that I am considering.

A hint of golden locks

Dark and Sexy

Which one would you choose for me?

Now as far as cut goes, this is where it really gets tricky. I want something that is fun, a little edgy but something that I will still be able to style myself. Here is the only thing I have found so far:

The trend is featuring a lot of short hair this season. I am not really sure if that would suit me though. So ladies, I need your help. Any cuts that you want to suggest or even links to get hairstyling websites? If short is the way to go I might be willing to do it but just need second opinions.

My appointment is tomorrow at 6pm so please share your ideas before then!

Your Houston Weather Forecast

Rain, rain and more rain!
This is most likely what you are seeing out your car window today in Houston!

As much as I love a good shower, especially when it is watering my yard, I could probably do without it today. However, if I was at home enjoying the comfort of my couch, it would be perfect!

Today I want to wish a very happy birthday to my sweet Mimi! She has been one of my greatest role models in my life and without her I don't know what I would do! I love you!!! May your day be bright and cheerful and your year full of love and joy!

Tonight we are off to an early birthday dinner at RA for another September baby. Happy early 25th birthday Megan!!! It's a big year for you so soak it up and enjoy every second of it! Love ya!

I hope that you all stay dry and be careful as you head home from work!

It's all about the "boyfriend"

Ok you read the title and I caught your attention lol, I promise I am not having an affair, I am still madly in love with my husband and absolutely head over heals for him.

Labor day, the last day of summer. As sad as I am to see it go, I am so excited for the fall fashion. The weather will EVENTUALLY start getting cooler. I don't think I have ever been this thrilled for the fall, but for the first time I am in love with this season's must haves! I feel like I have been in such a fashion rut and the past few seasons have been awful in my opinion. But finally something that I can enjoy!

It's all about the "boyfriend" apparel.

GAP - Boyfriend Jeans
Tamstyles...this is thanks to you! {Get It Girl Style}

Metallic Shoes (just got my pair, lovin)Leopard Print
what a great dress!

So these are just a few styles that I am absolutely drooling over. Don't even get me started on the beauty portion. The nail polish colors are phenomenal and I am loving the new Nicole collection with O.P.I. Always such great colors.

Ok on a non fashion note, Chris and I had a very productive weekend. Lots of stuff around the house got accomplished and we were also able to relax! You'll just have to wait to see the house stuff as I am saving it for after the open house! If you haven't already been invited (more than likely because I don't have your email address) and you would like to come, we would love for you too! The more the merrier. Just send me your email!

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Labor Day! Yay for the short work week!

xoxo

Is it Friday yet?!

I am so looking forward to the extended weekend. Catching up on sleep, working around the house on actual fun stuff and hopefully barbecuing sounds absolutely wonderful to me right now. But first I have to get through this long week.

One thing I am looking forward to is that tonight I am going to the House of Blues to see Collective Soul play! This brings back so many memories and can't wait to hang out with our friends Geoff and Amy. Too bad I won't be able to take pictures, stupid concert policy! But fun times will be had.

Then later this week we will finally be purchasing the rest of our bedroom furniture. It's all finally coming together and even the curtains are being shipped to the house at this very moment. Still need to get lamps and some art work. Money, money, money! Never ends. Anyone want to make a shopping trip with me!?

Well I wish I could write more but I have to get back to work so that I can leave here on time.

P.S. Filming for Sex & the City 2 started this morning and I am already loving SJP's fashion! I want her dress!!!
